My Rating: 5 of 5 stars
Completely loved every bit of this book! The writing alone was rhythmic and poetic; I found myself continuously moved by the inspirational dialogue. You can honestly find something worthy to quote in every chapter.
“Personally, I don’t like inherently happy people. I don’t trust them. I think there’s something seriously wrong with anyone who isn’t at least a little let down by the world.”
Paul is the sexy, witty, tortured, refuses-to-conform-to-the-norm hero…and he’s incredibly funny to boot! I was in love with his honesty and integrity, and the way he worshipped Eliza. My heart shattered for him and there was an emotionally charged point where I didn’t think I could read on–though I’m glad I did.
This book has something I love, and that’s the shock- factor. I promise you, your jaw will drop and your heart will sink. The alternating POV from Eliza to Paul’s quirky journal entries were fun and allowed for a close, personal inspection of both characters.
The only small complaint I have was that the final “resolve” felt a bit lackluster. Simply stated—I was preparing for a bit more drama (which is a definite first for me).
I’d highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy an intense love story provided by intelligent, artistic, deep writing. And if you happen to also be a DIE HARD fan of music but haven’t read this—what are you waiting for!? For me, this story isn’t all about the romance—it’s about the brilliant, idealistic messages creatively brought forth through music.
